ABOUT A keen interest in nature photography was sparked during my first trip to Antarctica in 1995.
Although I was ill equiped with an inexpensive small point-and-shoot camera, the sheer grandeur of the scenery and amazing wildlife transcended even the poor equipment . I subsequently acquired bigger and better cameras in the attempt to capture all of the beauty in nature that my eyes could see. For the next ten years I read everything I could about photography, attended numerous workshops, and sought mentors to help me in my quest. I traveled extensively to truly beautiful places, and by 2005 I recognized that new technology--digital equipment and software--could bring my images to a higher level of realism and satisfaction.
My vision is to be a wildlife artist with a camera, capturing portraits and action in the right light with beautiful compositions and exquisite timing--I take the utmost delight in those brief moments of direct eye contact with the subject. There has been tremendous enjoyment in sharing my work with an ever-increasing audience through exhibitions, galleries, and magazines. My community is important to me, too. I love sharing my images where I live, work, and play--at the New Jersey Audubon Sanctuaries, at Pompton Plains Town Hall and the Pequannock Library, at Chilton Memorial Hospital, and through the Wayne Art Association. I share my travel experiences and photographs with all New Jersey residents through regularly published articles in Garden State Woman magazine. As a charter member of the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA), I'm proud that my images have been included every year in their juried magazine, Expressions. It's a challenge, and honor, to be competing against the world's finest nature photographers. Winning awards is not the goal, but it is indeed rewarding when your work gains special recognition. And now a website--hope you enjoy my images! Isobel
